Fitzroy North House Renovations

Fitzroy North House demonstrates how considered engineering design can both honour a site’s heritage and support a sustainable, future-ready home. From the outset, engineering principles were applied to ensure performance, durability, and environmental responsibility across all systems—structural, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical.

Located on unceded Aboriginal land, the project balances its Victorian-era character with contemporary living requirements through carefully integrated services and spatial efficiency. Engineering solutions were developed in tandem with architectural intent, ensuring minimal intervention to the existing fabric while improving energy performance, comfort, and longevity. The design responds to the complexities of site—acknowledging historical narratives, patterns of postwar migration, and local ecological conditions—by embedding functionality within form.

Fitzroy North House exemplifies how engineering can reinforce a holistic design approach, bridging old and new, enhancing liveability, and fostering meaningful connections between people and place.
